  • Moving, oh no, does that mean change?

    March 10, 2014 /

It has been a busy International Women’s Day, week. My article Debunking Watchtower Misinformation For and About Women coincided with my desire to move all my blog posts to my domain host. For about a year, I have intended to move everything to my domain address. I have been using the free WordPress blogger, for about 5 years, and my domain has pointed to http://suehallnet.wordpress.com.

  • International Women’s Day 2014

    March 8, 2014 /

Another year, another day of celebration – International Women’s Day 2014.  I have often found it a liberating and a significant day.  Last year, I “woman -ed” a stall in Tavira library, so that women, could spend a moment to acknowledge and remember, a woman, a sister, a mother, a teacher, a friend, any woman, who made us more than we have made ourselves.  Women were invited to write on cards and put them on a tree.  By the end of the day the tree was full of purple, green and white cards, tied with ribbons. This year, I spent some time pondering about how to celebrate – fabulous women.…

  • International women’s day in Tavira

    March 8, 2013 /

Here are a few photos from International women’s day in Tavira.  In the library this morning there was a display of books.  There was also a tree with cards and ribbons ready and available, so that people could write on the card and celebrate a woman that has meant something to them. The photos after the library event are from Min-Arifa.  This event was organised by Lyndal Bale and Paula Ferra.

  • Women who inspire – International women’s day

    March 1, 2013 /

Since the early part of the 20th Century there has been a day when people have come together to celebrate and mark the changes that have occurred in women’s lives.   International Women’s Day (IWD) emerged from the activities of labour movements in North America and across Europe. By 1975, during International Women’s Year, the United Nations began celebrating International Women’s Day on 8th March. It is day that many countries mark and it is a day celebrated by men and women.  The tradition in some countries sees men honouring their mothers, wives, girlfriends, colleagues, etc with flowers and small gifts. Women’s organisations and governments across the world also observe IWD…
