Paulo Viegas is not only a member of the Algarve Photography group, but he is also the powerhouse behind the photography group f/18, based in the eastern Algarve. One of his many passions is a boat called the Golfinho, which has for a few years been lying on the beach in Cacelha Velha. It’s an usual fishing boat made of wood that can no longer make its way up the river estuary because of silt and sand erosion. Boats of this kind are rare. Paulo with others have now raised over 1500 Euros, to have the boat moved and restored. Most of the money has come through contributions and the sale of photos from a number of photo exhibitions that f/18 have put together across the region. The latest exhibition is launched on Sunday 10 March. The exhibition is called “Luz sobre a Ria” (Light over Ria Formosa), It will be held in “Arco” art gallery in Faro (in the old part of the town, inside the castle walls). It will start at about 4pm. Paulo says “there will be also wine tasting, provided by a vineyard company and a Chef will be doing a cooking show with clams from the Ria Formosa, so you can all have a taste”.
